Wonder Connection is a donor-funded program of the North Carolina Botanical Garden that serves hospitalized children at UNC Hospitals.
Our mission is to engage hospitalized children with the wonders of science through meaningful learning experiences and to promote healing and hope through positive connections with nature.
Population Served: Wonder Connection serves pediatric patients on location at UNC Children’s Hospital as well as pediatric outpatients and their families at the NC Botanical Garden. Wonder Connection’s science activities and classes empower pediatric patients with knowledge, provide patients with joy and act as an inspiration for their futures.

This unique target audience finds themselves inundated with medical science and technology on a daily basis and this program provides patients with the choice to conduct their own scientific experiments and to participate in fun, hands-on activities.

It gets my child to focus on other things and learn at the same time. I believe it is a wonderful program. Very informative, fun, and entertaining. Excellent distraction from boredom and pain. —parent
