Friendships Bloom at Weed Dating!

Weed dating

Last Friday, the Carolina Campus Community Garden, in collaboration with the Epsilon Eta Environmental Honors Fraternity, held its sixth successful Weed Dating event. Weed Dating is a yearly event hosted by CCCG’s to bring new faces to the garden and foster community through service with a splash of fun.

This year, we were lucky to be joined by 39 vibrant volunteers, many of whom were newcomers to the garden. The volunteers got their hands dirty by chopping and turning compost, clearing and prepping beds, and planting numerous tomato seeds. In total, over 43 pounds of fresh produce were harvested for distribution, including carrots, spinach, kale, turnips, green onions, and more!

After a hard day’s work in the garden, volunteers had the opportunity to celebrate the fruits of their labor with a variety of healthy snacks and engaging in conversation with new people.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and we hope that the seeds of friendship planted on Friday blossom into lively relationships!
