The impact of the choices gardeners make go far beyond deciding which plant goes where. At a time when biodiversity is in crisis, beauty is not enough. This talk will be about garden spaces that are intentionally welcoming to pollinators and wildlife and will celebrate the joy and abundance this supports. We will review great piedmont plants that are horticulturally excellent and why they are essential to our fauna. We will also discuss maintenance strategies that employ these plants to provide habitat for many of the organisms we’d like to share our spaces with. If you’ve ever wondered about the wattle fences and sculptural brush piles at NCBG here’s your chance to learn more.
