Time: 11:00 AM-12:30 PM

Take a walk with NCBG director of conservation Johnny Randall through Mason Farm Biological Reserve, a 367-acre nature preserve in Chapel Hill that features old farm fields, once cultivated by American Indians and the first European settlers to Orange County, now converted to native plant and wildflower meadows, and ancient woodlands of original forest, never clear-cut or plowed. Johnny will discuss the restoration and management efforts over the last 20 years that have helped to rehabilitate an ecologically exceptional wildland.
Note: This program begins by meeting in the NCBG parking lot.
This annual tradition (formerly National Public Gardens Week) of the American Public Gardens Association celebrates public gardens, raising awareness of the important role the North Carolina Botanical Garden plays in the community. Join NCBG staff for a guided tour of some of our gardens and natural areas, emphasizing our role as a Conservation Garden. We encourage you to attend multiple tours.
