This intermediate-level course explores the dynamic relationship between flowering plants and their pollinators. It includes floral reproductive biology, including the flowering plant life cycle, breeding system biology, and pollinator attraction mechanisms. Students learn to recognize important insect pollinators. Additional topics include pollination ecology, conservation, and the importance of pollination to our ecosystems and agriculture/food supply.
