A Community Photo Exhibit
Note: The entry form is now closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted photos!
Join us this January and February for Birds of North Carolina: A Community Photo Exhibit! The show will take place in our DeBerry Gallery and will feature prints of hundreds of bird photos submitted by the public.
This exhibit is part of Bird-Friendly Landscapes: Cultivating Habitats, Connecting Lives, a series of programs and exhibits about the connections between native plants and birds, presented in partnership with the New Hope Bird Alliance.
Dates
Entries were due by the end of the day on Sunday, November 10.
We’ll let you know if your photos have been accepted by Friday, December 6. The show will be up in January and February (exact dates still to be determined).
Subject Matter
Wild birds in North Carolina. For this exhibit, we will not accept photos of birds in captivity (at zoos, bird parks, homes, etc.).
Quality
Smartphone photography is welcome. Please send photos in JPEG format (the default for most phones) and at the highest possible image quality, so they make for clear images when printed at 8”x10”. We’ll be looking for images that aren’t blurry, where you can see the bird(s) clearly. Pictures that highlight the connection between birds and native plants are especially welcome!
Quantity
You can submit up to four photos for consideration. We may accept some, all, or none.
About You
You can be any age and live anywhere in the world, as long as the photos you’re submitting were taken in North Carolina. You must be the sole owner of the images you submit. (Parents: you can submit kids’ work on their behalf.)
The Fine Print
By submitting your photographs, you give the North Carolina Botanical Garden permission to reproduce and show them on our website, on social media, and in other digital and print materials, crediting you. We may display some selected photos on social media before the start of the exhibit. You (or the photographer, if not you) maintain the copyright of the photo.
By submitting your photographs, you give the North Carolina Botanical Garden permission to sell the prints we make for the show. All proceeds will return directly to the North Carolina Botanical Garden.
