Experience the beauty of our native plant gardens and learn about what makes the North Carolina Botanical Garden one of the premier conservation gardens in the United States. Schedule a private tour for your adult group today!

Tours are available mid-March through mid-November, Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. We provide one trained Garden Guide docent per 10 people.

We ask that groups follow our standard safety precautions to help us keep our gardens open and safe for everyone.

  • Keep your distance. Stay at least six feet from other visitors, staff, and volunteers whenever possible.
  • Bring a mask. They’re required indoors, including to use the restroom. Masks are not required outdoors, but we strongly recommend that you wear a mask during the tour if you are unable to maintain six feet of distance from others.
  • Do not attend if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. See the full list of symptoms on the CDC website.

Garden Guides will lead your group on a leisurely walk through our Display Gardens, sharing plants in bloom or of particular interest, our history and mission, and why gardening with native plants is so important.

  • Average tour length: 60 minutes
  • Minimum/Maximum participants: 7/30
  • Fee: $5 per person ($50 minimum per tour)

If your group is interested in a special topic beyond the scope of a General Tour (e.g. gardening for wildlife), we will try to accommodate your request based on leader availability and expertise required. Custom tours are led by trained Garden Guide volunteers and/or Garden staff.

  • Average tour length: 90 minutes
  • Minimum/Maximum participants: 7/30
  • Fee: $10 per person ($75 minimum per tour)

ACCESSIBILITY: For groups with limited mobility or other special needs, please let us know on your Guided Tour Request Form. We can choose a path and a pace that best suit your group.
