Photographers, videographers, and artists are welcome to use the North Carolina Botanical Garden (NCBG) display collections and nature trails. We hope that you will credit and thank the Garden in your work, regardless of the category you appear in below!
Application Procedure for Non-Commercial Photographers
Non-commercial photographers, videographers and artists, when visiting on their own, do not need to register, but must avoid damage to collections and disruption of visitors and garden activities.
Non-commercial photographers, videographers and artists visiting in groups must register, although there is no fee. Such groups may be asked to restrict their activities to certain places or times, depending on the Garden's schedule and the size of the group.
Application Procedure for Commercial Photography/Videography
All professional/commercial photography at the NCBG must be registered. Commercial photographers, videographers and artists must register, complete an application (see below) and submit fee payment.
Inquiries regarding use of the NCBG grounds and facilities for professional or commercial photography/video can be made by by email: for the main visitor site/display gardens area, contact Lauren Davis, Facilities Coordinator; for Coker Arboretum, contact Margo MacIntyre, Curator; for Battle Park, contact Stephen Keith, Natural Areas Curator.
For all professional or commercial photography/video taken at the NCBG that requires multiple equipment and entourage, a $75-per-2-hours fee and separate reservation must be made in advance. Confirmation of the photography session will be made with pre-approved date and space and a signed Professional/Commercial Photography Reservation form[PDF]. For professional photography using minimal equipment and subject, a $25 registration fee must be made at the NCBG Reception Desk on the day of the photo shoot. Reservations and fee payment should be made at least 14 days in advance.
Commercial photographers, videographers and artists must avoid damage to collections and disruption of visitors and garden activities.

Weekdays: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (EST)
Saturday, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm (EST) or 9:30 am - 5:30 pm (DST)
Sunday, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm (EST) or 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm (DST)
A non-refundable payment is required at the time the reservation is made. Make checks payable to NCBG. Photography sessions are charged at a 2-hour use rate.
Group number should be no greater than 20 without prior approval. Clients need to arrive camera-ready as there are no dressing room facilities. Photographers and their equipment are restricted from garden collections and planting areas and may not block or interfere with normal pedestrian or vehicular traffic. Session must occur on open areas, pathways, and boardwalks. Locations must be pre-approved. The NCBG does not provide any equipment.
Parking may not be reserved exclusively for any group reserving space at the NCBG facilities during business hours; however, we will work with you in identifying alternative parking strategies and arrangements. Public transportation and carpooling are encouraged.

NCBG disclaims any responsibility for any personal property or equipment of photographer that is lost or damaged during the event. Photographer and/or user group shall be responsible for any damage to NCBG's indoor facilities or outdoor premises caused by the photographer or user group, as applicable.
